This year’s Peter’s Stocking winner Keiley Good with Ann Cheney and CJ Heron of Walter Stewart’s

Six year old Keiley Good was the happy winner of the 38th annual Peter’s Stocking drawing! In the Holiday spirit of giving, Keiley plans to donate some of the toys.  Walter Stewart’s also donated toys to Karl’s Chevrolet’s Toys for Tots drive. The memory of the late Peter Lewis lives on with this favorite holiday tradition, which he started in 1978.
Walter Stewart’s will send checks totaling $2062.14 to participating local non-profit organizations this week, proceeds from the market’s annual “Holiday Donation Days T-Bill drive” held in December.
“It is our pleasure to support our shoppers’ favorite local organizations as they serve such a critical role in our community!” said Alex Stewart, General Manager of Walter Stewart’s, and great-grandson of the store’s founder.
We raised a total of $2062.14 for participating New Canaan organizations designated by T-Bill shoppers: Strays & Others ($547.94), New Canaan Volunteer Firefighters ($280.18), New Canaan Nature Center ($195.38), New Canaan CARES ($156.20), ABC House ($151.62), Staying Put ($145.38), $132.77 (NC Food Pantry), Horizons Student Enrichment Program ($129), New Canaan Community Foundation ($106.58), Arts for Healing ($97.09), Get About Van ($65), and New Canaan Library ($55).
T-Bill shoppers also generously donated their balances to the South School PTC during the South T-Bill Drive and together we raised $2166.65 for the South PTC! The special T-Bill drive was part of South School’s new “Shop for South” campaign.
Stewart’s shoppers receive “T-Bill” rewards when they shop which they can use to help provide financial assistance to participating non-profits during Donation Days fundraisers held throughout the year. This year through the T-Bill Donation Days program Walter Stewart’s has donated a total of $6600.91 to participating local non-profits, $2178.52 to the NCHS Scholarship Fund, as well as over 100 Thanksgiving turkeys to Person-to-Person for local families in need.
Shoppers who would like to participate in the Donation Days program may obtain a courtesy card from the store’s customer service staff or sign up online.
