Shop with Reusable Bags, Raise Money for NC All Sports Booster Club

Stewart’s Market and Planet New Canaan have teamed up to promote the use of reusable bag and support The New Canaan All Sports Booster Club. From now until mid-March, for every reusable bag used, 5 cents will go to New Canaan All Sports Booster Club. This donation is in addition to Stewart’s Market policy of a 5 cent discount for each reusable bag used by customers. Any reusable bag may be used for the donation and discount. Stewart’s Market does sell a variety of their own bags, including an insulated bag, and customers can use their T-Bill points toward the purchase of bags.
Planet New Canaan is a non-partisan group, founded by local members of the community, committed to bringing awareness about the environmental issues that face New Canaan and the world, both today and in the future, through film screenings, presentations and community outreach.

Walter Stewart’s Rings in the Holidays with “Peter’s Stocking” and “Donation Days”

Peter’s Stocking winner Lyla Ives with Ann Cheney, store manager, and CJ Heron, Customer Service Manager.

The memory of Peter Lewis lives on with his favorite holiday tradition – Peter’s Stocking. For the 40th holiday season, Walter Stewart’s invited our youngest shoppers to enter for a chance to win the toys in the giant red Christmas stocking hanging in our store. A tradition started in 1978 by the late Peter Lewis. “Just seeing the happy faces of the kids makes me smile,” Peter said back in 2006 in response to this annual event. The toys were purchased from the New Canaan Toy Store with a few “Peter approved” traditional music toys and classic games.
Six-year-old Lyla Ives was the happy winner of the 40th annual Peter’s Stocking drawing! Walter Stewart’s also donated toys to Karl’s Chevrolet’s Toys for Tots drive. The memory of the late Peter Lewis lives on with this favorite holiday tradition, which he started in 1978.
Walter Stewart’s also completed its annual Holiday T-Bill Donation Days drive to benefit local charities.  Together with our T-Bill shoppers we raised $5245 for participating local organizations. 26 local non-profits will receive checks!
Walter Stewart’s Market, New Canaan’s oldest retail establishment, is located on 229 Elm Street and has been in business since 1907. For more information please call Walter Stewart’s Market at 203.966-4848 or visit our website at www.StewartsMarket.com.
