Walter Stewart’s is pleased to sponsor the upcoming Pura Vida food packing event on May 31st and June 1st. For the fifth year in a row, the New Canaan High School Pura Vida Club is organizing an event to help pack 275,000 meals for hungry children on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1, in the school’s cafeteria. Volunteers from the community are needed for two-hour shifts between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 1:30-9 on Sunday.

Giving Thanks and Giving Back Copy
The Young Women’s League of New Canaan and Walter Stewart’s Market teamed up again this year to donate 100 turkeys and over 15 Thanksgiving meal tote bags to Person-to-Person’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner Drive. The dinners were distributed to local families in need by Person to Person in Darien.
Walter Stewart’s shoppers reached the goal of purchasing more than 100 turkeys to complete the Thanksgiving dinners by donating back their T-Bill balances earned, during the Donation Days drive in earlier this month.
Walter Stewart’s also donated of $2030 to participating New Canaan charitable organizations in November, proceeds from the market’s recent Anniversary T-Bill Donation Days drive. 18 New Canaan non-profits designated by Walter Stewart’s shoppers will received checks earlier this month:

Apple Season Coloring Contest Winners
Congratulations to the winners, finalists and all of the participating artists in our apple season coloring contest! Once again it was hard to choose just a few submissions when all of the coloring forms were excellent! McKenna Harden, age 10, Chloe Wildman, age 6, Lola Wildman, age 6, and Gray Wildman, age 4, all won Gift Cards to the New Canaan Toy Store for for their winning entries. All coloring contest entries are displayed in aisle 4 of Walter Stewart’s. Children up to 10 years old submitted colored pictures of an Apple in celebration of the local apple season.
