Madeline Scanlon, age 7, will be hosting a special party stage-side at the Summer Theatre of New Canaan’s world premier and pre-off Broadway run of Merrilee Mannerly – A Magnificent New Musical. Staff of Walter Stewart’s and the Summer Theatre selected The Merrillee Mannerly coloring contest winner Madeline Scanlon, a West Schooler. All coloring contest entries are displayed in aisle 4 of Walter Stewart’s. Children up to 9 years old submitted colored pictures of Merrilee Mannerly and the winner will receive tickets for a party of friends at an upcoming performance. The party will include food and beverages from Walter Stewart’s Market. The Summer Theatre of New Canaan is also staging performances of critically-acclaimed Hairspray as well as children’s shows (Disney’s the Little Mermaid Jr. and Charlotte’s Web) at Waveny Park through August 3rd. Look for upcoming Little Mermaid Jr. and Charlotte’s Web Coloring Contests this summer!

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The Summer Theatre of New Canaan (Artistic Director, Melody Libonati) will present the world premier and pre-off Broadway run of Merrilee Mannerly – A Magnificent New Musical as the kickoff to its Theater for Young Audiences summer season in Waveny Park, New Canaan, CT. With direction by Ryan Ratelle and choreography by Enrique Brown, Merrilee Mannerly will play performances on Saturday and Sunday mornings June 14 through July 19, 2014.
This fun and energetic new musical is based on Merrilee Mannerly and Her Magnificent Manners the Mom’s Choice Award-winning book by Avon, Connecticut authors Mary Cashman and Cynthia Whipple.  It’s transformation into a musical was conceived by director, Ryan Ratelle who enlisted writer and lyricist William Squier and composer Jeffrey Lodin to collaborate with the authors to transform the book into Merrilee Mannerly – A Magnificent New Musical!  The stage adaptation and score for Merrilee was commissioned by Magnificent Productions and the musical has been optioned for Off-Broadway. With lively music, dancing and lots of laughs, Merrilee Mannerly reminds us all, that “Good Manners are Always in Fashion.”
All shows run Saturday and Sunday mornings and early afternoons. All seats reserved.
