Our T-Bill shoppers were also invited to donate their balances to their favorite local non-profits during our annual holiday donations days drive. Together we raised $2430.81 for participating local organizations, including ABC House, NC Food Pantry, and Strays and Others. Customers who would like to participate in the T-Bill Donation Days program may obtain a courtesy card from the store’s customer service staff orsign up online.

For the 42nd holiday season, Walter Stewart’s invited our youngest shoppers to enter for a chance to win the toys in the giant red Christmas stocking hanging in our store. A tradition started by the late Peter Lewis. “Just seeing the happy faces of the kids makes me smile,” Peter said back in 2006 in response to this annual event. The toys were purchased from the New Canaan Toy Store with a few “Peter approved” traditional toys and classic games.
Walter Stewart’s is recently completed its annual Holiday T-Bill Donation Days drive to benefit local charities. T-Bill customers were invited to donate T-Bill balances to the participating local non-profit organization of their choice. Thanks to the support of our customers, we are donating $2005 to designated local organizations!
A list of the participating non-profits was posted at each customer check-out. Shoppers who would like to participate in the T-Bill Donation Days program may obtain a courtesy card from the store’s customer service staff or sign up online.

The tallies are in and the New Canaan Food Pantry is freshly stocked. According to sponsors, participants in the recent Taste of the Town “Food Raiser” donated over $5,600 worth of groceries to the New Canaan Food Pantry. The combined efforts of the Chamber of Commerce, Walter Stewart’s shoppers and event strollers provided 189 bags of food items which were delivered this week.
The Food Pantry is located at St. Mark’s Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge and is open daily. Walter Stewart’s Market also accepts donations at the Food Pantry stand near the check-out area. Financial contributions may be sent to New Canaan Food Pantry, 77 Main St.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tucker Murphy said “The Taste of the Town has become one of our favorite events of the year. We are so grateful to all the business partners who allow us to collectively restock the shelves, helping those who need it.”

Walter Stewart’s just completed its annual Holiday T-Bill Donation Days drive to benefit local charities. Together we raised $1608.25 for local charities!
During their Donation Days drives, T-Bill customers are invited to donate their T-Bill balances to the participating local non-profit organization of your choice. Walter Stewart’s donated $2062.14 to our shoppers’ designated local organizations during last year’s Holiday Donation Days drive, as well as more than $4,200 in charitable contributions during the market’s 109th anniversary Donation Days drive. Of that amount, $1,305 benefits the Americares Hurricane Matthew Haiti Relief Effort, in honor of Stewarts’ team members Pierre, Jean and Abcher. Walter Stewart’s donated over 100 Thanksgiving turkeys to Person-to-Person, which distributed the meals to local families in need.

The combined efforts of the Chamber of Commerce, Walter Stewart’s shoppers and event strollers provided 155 bags of food items which were delivered last week.
Food Pantry Coordinator Carol Harvey said she was thrilled by the arrival of the much-needed food. Shelves are always being replenished, she added, noting that the following items would be especially welcome: juice boxes, canned soups, taco seasoning kits and boxed mashed potatoes. Food must be non-perishable and checked for expiration dates.

Walter Stewart’s Market is conducting its annual Donation Days T-Bill week to benefit the New Canaan High School Scholarship Foundation from Sunday, April 3 through Saturday, April 9.
Throughout the week, Walter Stewart’s customers are invited to donate T-Bill balances they earn shopping at the store. Walter Stewart’s will match the balances designated by shoppers with a monetary donation to the Scholarship Foundation. Walter Stewart’s has been partnering with the NCHS Scholarship Foundation for 16 years. The NCHS Scholarship Foundation is a long-standing community effort to provide need-based financial aid for NCHS graduates pursuing higher education.
The Donation Days T-Bill week is beginning on Scholarship Sunday, April 3. On Scholarship Sunday, NCHS students wearing Scholarship Drive T-shirts will go door-to-door in New Canaan to collect donations for the Foundation that will benefit their fellow students.
Donations may be handed to the students on April 3, made online at www.nchsscholarship.org, or sent by mail to the NCHS Scholarship Foundation, New Canaan High School, 11 Farm Road, New Canaan, CT 06840. Checks should be made out to the “NCHS Scholarship Foundation.”
